.....part two, the unloading.

.... just the opposite of how it went on. You can see the tracks, and the trucks already in place and waiting for the caboose.

The whole process went surprisingly well.

Its new home. Just needs a little paint, and a few new windows. :)

Not a bad project for a cold day.

How to move a caboose.....

I volunteered to spearhead moving a caboose for the Pioneer Club. It had been sitting in the scrap yard for a couple of years, until we secrured its purchase last fall.We had been waiting for the ground to freeze up before moving it. I contacted Landwehr Construction for the crane work and Budde Trucking for the transport. It just so happens we decided to move it on the coldest day of the year, about 10 deg. all day with a stiff North wind. brrrrrr.

All rigged, and ready for the lifting, about 37000# worth.

.

Pretty basic pick it up and swing it over a semi trailer.

Two Part Post..

1. I decided I needed a 450/500 engine stand, so I whipped this one up the other day.

2. I then proceeded to take a part the engine for the 450 Cafe project, so I could start freshening it up. I was also concerned by the amount of blue death I saw oozing out of multiple surfaces.

As you can see there is an abundance of the blue death. I would never criticize any ones work..... however, silicone is not an acceptable head gasket material!!!

Nice old tractor....

..this is about a 1921 ish International 8-16 tractor. I drive it around Pioneer Days, and like the fact that it looks kind of racey....for a tractor.
